What your organisation does

Friendship for Integrated Development Association of Northern Ireland (FIDANI) was established as a support organisation to FIDA, an Ethiopian based charity formed in 2005 to address the needs of vulnerable people from some of Addis Ababa’s most deprived and poverty stricken areas. The primary focus of the organisation is to see the living

conditions of marginalised and destitute children, youth, women and those with disabilities improved in a sustainable manner. Since formation, FIDANI has made a valuable contribution towards a number of projects, such as the development of purpose built education centres, and through child sponsorship programmes. The Northern Ireland strand of the organisation makes a significant positive contribution towards the educational and life prospects of the children supported, and is a driving force in the growth of the organisation to support more vulnerable children. At present, FIDA supports in the region of 360 children in pre-school education, providing continued support to a further 105 children in primary and secondary education, and running two kindergartens. FIDANI makes a valuable contribution to sections of the Ethiopian population in greatest need to enable them to become self-supporting. FIDANI have also recently delivered a series of local awareness raising campaigns, as well as good relations projects within primary schools and community sports programmes for at risk children and young people.
