Public benefits
Beneficiaries of Tuesday’s Child are vulnerable children living in areas of war and extreme hardship. Our first purpose allows for the protection and preservation of health among children in places of war, famine and extreme hardship. The benefits that flow from this purpose are that children will have improved health and well-being and be safe
from harm. These benefits are evidenced from charity partners we have financially assisted to date with donations for: food-aid, medicines and health-care, rescue of children from danger, recreational activities to help with children’s overall well-being. In Gaza for example, we support children living in extreme conditions of war and poverty. In Syria, we have helped children traumatised by war in Aleppo. In Ethiopia support is to a parish in Wukro to provide food and educational materials for children. In Uganda, provision of fresh drinking water from wells in two villages and food, school uniforms, mosquito nets and educational materials. In Kenya helps children in Nairobi and Wajir. Tuesday’s Child has also responded to the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean and supported missionary run safe shelters for boat refugees to live and provided clothes, shoes, hygiene items, sports and leisure items, first aid medicines and blankets, tents and sleeping bags. The benefits which flow from our purpose of relieving poverty is that children and their families are being assisted with basics to live with human dignity and a better quality of life. This is demonstrated by the various humanitarian work of missionaries that we have supported to date that include the provision of food aid, provision of clean drinking water, medicines, medical aids, provision of clothes, shoes etc. We also try to respond to humanitarian disasters where children often suffer the most and are at highest risk from deprivation and injustice. The benefits that flow from our purpose of advancing education is that children are given the opportunity to learn and gain education to assist them into adulthood and help them work their way out of poverty. These benefits are evidenced from projects financially assisted to date that include: support of the rescue of street children in Nairobi and their enrolment in schools and provision with books and food at school; distribution of food parcels for families around the Kyiv area in Ukraine, financial assistance to building a new school in Karnataka, India, and educational grants to students orphaned in Nigeria; provision of salary for a teacher and educational materials for children with disabilities in the Wajir Centre of Rehabilitation for children with disabilities, North East Kenya; educational support for children living in Eastlands, Nairobi. In 2024/2025, children living in: Gaza, Wajir and Nairobi in Kenya, Aleppo in Syria, Kissanda in Uganda and Wukro in Ethiopia, have benefited. In Gaza, funds helped children and their families sheltering in the Holy Family Catholic Church in Gaza city. Donations went to purchase of flour, water, canned food, vegetables, and hygiene items. In Syria, funds went to provision of Christmas gifts for 1500 children in Aleppo. In Kenya, funds contributed to Christmas parties for street children and children living in poverty in Eastlands, Nairobi and areas within 2 hrs from Nairobi. Funds were also used towards school fees for children. A school in Wajir for children with disabilities was supported with salary for a school teacher and food and juice. In Ethiopia funds went to providing food and educational materials for children. In Uganda, funds were used for provision of a new water well in Kissanda district; the well brings clean drinking water to 2000 children. There is no harm (we work through charity missionary partners on the ground). There is no private benefit from the work. We wish to thank donors who have supported Tuesday’s Child and helped bring a little relief to some of the many suffering children in our world. Tuesday’s Child presented a birthday bouquet of red and white roses to Our Lady on 8 September 2024 in Medjugorje. The bouquet was on behalf of children who wished Our Lady Happy Birthday by praying a Rosary for world peace. Children from different countries enjoy uniting in the annual rose bouquet for peace. Peace for every child born and unborn.
What your organisation does
Tuesday’s Child provides humanitarian relief to children exhausted by war, famine and extreme hardship. Food aid, clean water, clothes, shoes, education, health-care and other essentials for daily living are funded and also recreational activities and Christmas gifts. Tuesday’s Child was inspired in Medjugorje in 2006 and is blessed to have
supported children in: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Congo DRC, Egypt, Ethiopia, Grenada, India, Israel, Kenya, Palestine – Gaza and West Bank, Pakistan, Nigeria, Philippines, Syria, Sudan, Uganda, Ukraine, Zambia, Ghana and child boat refugees rescued in the Mediterranean. In each place, Tuesday’s Child partners with catholic missionaries, with good local networks. Children benefiting from funds in 2024/2025 live in Gaza, Syria, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda. A total of £42,372 was spent on food, water, education, hygiene, clothes, heat and gifts. Total running costs of the charity were £939, covered by a sponsor. Tuesday’s Child aims to respond to humanitarian disasters caused by war, famine, extreme poverty, climate change and human trafficking. Tuesday’s Child also shares the voices of children and young people living in war zones, traumatised, injured or orphaned by war and distributes aid to them. We have met young migrants rescued from the sea, former child prisoners, victims of trafficking and listened to their harrowing stories. We have also met children suffering in Gaza and the West Bank and children in hospitals injured by war and distributed aid and gifts to them. Our world needs to listen to the voices of children. Every child is made in the image and likeness of God. Every child has the God given right to life, the right to live in peace and to be safe and cherished. The dignity and rights of every child must be respected regardless of nationality, gender, faith or culture. Tuesday’s Child upholds the dignity of life of the unborn child. Peace for every child born and unborn.
