Benefits from purposes Purpose 1 The benefit which flows from purpose 1 is the education of young and old from all parts of the community in the dramatic arts of acting, singing and dancing. Our members gain experience and confidence in performance skills in a wide range of drama related events within the local population. We aim to develop our
members’ skills and talents by working with older and more experienced members in a safe, comfortable and well structured environment leading to enhancement of their confidence and self-esteem through their involvement. Our goal is to provide high quality drama events and productions for the enjoyment of the general public at an affordable cost. We strive to be cross-community and entertain audiences of all age ranges and social backgrounds. The benefit which flows to the wider public includes the enjoyment of high quality music and drama pieces. The benefits from this include increased awareness, improved knowledge and appreciation of performing arts within the entire province. Purpose 2 The encouragement of the interest in the arts among our young people provides additional direct benefits to the youth membership (aged 6-25), all of whom expand participation in music, dance and drama. This culminates in high quality theatre productions. We provide an opportunity for young people in the area to develop skills whilst building personal skills. Demonstrated by; These are both demonstrated through feedback from our members and the wider public through surveys and working groups; also by the continuing support of our returning audiences over many years. The educational aspect is evidenced by the increasingly high standards set by our members. These benefits are also demonstrated by the high numbers attending weekly classes and auditions. Harm There are some risks flowing from these activities, the possibility of harm, for example by physical injury incurred by participation in dance, movement and theatre, is outweighed by the benefit and significantly reduced by the policies and procedures in place to address such risks; for example safeguarding and child protection policy, health and safety policy and code of conduct for staff and volunteers. Beneficiaries Beneficiaries of both purposes are the membership of the group and the wider public who benefit through the opportunity to attend high quality drama events / plays / musicals at a reasonable cost. Private Benefit There is some private benefit to certain individuals outside the membership. These individuals are necessary to bring professional skills to the organisation such as production skills and theatre technical skills. There may be some private benefit flowing to the members by way of using their skills/training in other settings i.e. child protection training. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Our volunteers under 25 years old are members of Millennium Volunteers, where they get recognition for their work by way of certificates for volunteering for 50, 100 and 200 hours.
What your organisation does
We involve our members in the participation in Drama, Dance, Speech and Music. We also encourage, promote and nurture new and existing talent in Drama and the associated Arts in the Borough of Craigavon by advertising on Social Media, Newspapers and in Schools throughout the Craigavon and outlying areas. We promote live theatre to the widest
possible audience by putting on approx 6 productions per year. We educate the youth of Craigavon in an appreciation of the Arts and in all aspects of Drama and Theatrical Production. Also, we promote their personal Training and Development by holding training workshops and training seminars/courses.
