Public benefits

We provide tailored programmes which were developed following a range of consultations with local senior citizens, community associations and various agencies. The benefits of the programmes delivered include the promotion of positive health and wellbeing, a better quality of life for the beneficiaries, enhanced independence, reduction of

isolation, and learning new skills. The benefits can be demonstrated by the numbers of older people recorded using our services as well as recordings of refferals from agencies such as local day centres,community centres, adult centres etc. Evidence is also provided through our evaluation forms and verbal feedback from the clients as well as feedback from the referring agencies. We also keep records of all programmes delivered. We have looked at each element of our organisation and we believe there is no risk of harm There is no other private benefits. (a) The charity's beneficiaries are people living in Ballymoney and the surrounding area specifically those who are aged 50+, The benefits that come from our charity's purposes include an increase in education of healthy living thereby increasing the chance of improved health, higher self esteem and confidence amongst the members who participate. Subsequently, the benefits are that they will have lower levels of stress and anxiety due to The introduction of exercise to their lives. The involvement of other agencies to offer advice and information will also provide the beneficiaries with the opportunity to lower their level of stress. The social benefits to the community will be evident in the area of social inclusion, from the social interaction that will be available to them in 50+ Health & Fitness. This benefit will also encourage good mental health

What your organisation does

50+ Health & Fitness, provide health and fitness classes in our base and as an outreach programme, delivered by qualified coaches and instructors. These activities for the 50 + participants include low impact activities including, gentle armchair aerobics classes, low impact line dancing, boccia, kurling etc. We also provide a safe space were

the mature adults can meet have healthy snacks, have the opportunity to recieve therapuetic treatments, improving both physical and mental health. The experienced instructors also will promote overall health by using gym equipment to help with cardo fitness and weight bearing exercises to help with mobilising joints and improving muscle tone. We work with a range of organisations who refer clients to our community service. 50+ Health & Fitness work with a range of organisations who refer clients with learning difficulties these organisations include, Cedar Foundation, Day Opportunities, Millbrook, and mental health resource centres. The charity will also provide light refreshments to those who attend in order to create a warm atmosphere and to be a community resource where everybody feels equally welcome.

Charitable purposes

The purposes of the association are to promote the health and wellbeing of the inhabitants of Ballymoney and surrounding environments with people aged 50+ with conditions such as asthma, obesity, depression, those with cardiac and lung conditions without the distinction of sexual orientation, race, political opinion, gender, religious or other opinions. The association is to provide educational facilities on health and fitness, offer support, signposting to other agencies for advice and information. Not only that, but to work in partnership with local authorities and the said inhabitants, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education. Presently working alongside the Cedar Foundation and with day opportunities to help the confidence and self esteem learning about their health and providing workshops in learning about the gym equipment in a safe manner. To provide the facilities in the interest of social welfare for all the community, for the elderly, one parent families, people with disabilities and relief of those in need. For said inhabitants to enhance these facilities in the interest of social welfare to include recreation and leisure time occupation with the object of improving conditions for life.
