a. Advancing community development and citizenship by the developing the knowledge and skills of communities through capacity building, education and training. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are that members of local communities develop their knowledge and skills to better meet the needs of their communities and to enable them
to participate more fully in society. These benefits are evidenced by feedback from participants and statutory agencies. We don’t believe that this purpose will lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are groups and individuals who live in the area of benefit. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the increase in knowledge, skills and understanding of individuals we work with. The skills and knowledge acquired may be transferable to other situations which will lead to private benefit but this is incidental and necessary because of the need for individuals to build their skills and knowledge to ensure community groups better meet the needs of their communities. b. Promoting peace building and reconciliation by encouraging and facilitating opportunities for inhabitants to play a fuller and more active role in their local community. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are a reduction in sectarianism and racism and the development of tolerance and understanding amongst people from diverse backgrounds. These benefits will be evidenced by feedback from participants and statutory agencies and by monitoring and evaluating the delivery of our activities. This purpose may lead to the harm that people within communities who challenge the sectarian attitudes of others may be at risk of personal harm. We can show this harm is outweighed by the benefits of more people in communities feeling supported to challenge all forms of discrimination and the development of a more tolerant society accepting of difference. The charity’s beneficiaries are members of groups and individuals who live in the area of benefit. There is no private benefit flowing from this purpose.

REACT runs community relations, victims and survivors and youth projects working with groups and individuals providing support, capacity building and training. Our work focuses on engagement with all sections of the community. We adopt a community development approach to our work and employ a staff team with a broad spectrum of skills and
