Public benefits

Purpose 1: The advancement of education in horticulture and gardening. The direct benefit which flows from purpose 1 is that the beneficiaries are supported and encouraged through their practice of knowledge of gardening and horticulture which provides them with continued enjoyment and development of greater interest and knowledge of gardening and

horticulture and providing an opportunity to foster friendships. These benefits will be evidenced through the provision of well-maintained gardens, organisation of meetings, lectures, events, trips and outings. Purpose 2: The advancement of culture and heritage through horticulture heritage, gardening and horticulture. The direct benefit which flows from purpose 2 is that beneficiaries are educated and informed about the importance of heritage gardens such as Antrim Castle Gardens and Clotworthy House and allows the monitoring, promotion, protection and preservation of heritage gardens for future generations. These benefits will be evidenced through the provision of well-maintained and preserved Heritage Gardens and the provision of research documentation of the history and archaeology and garden plants in Northern Ireland and various classes, workshops, training, seminars, lectures, discussions, exhibitions, outings or events that are organised for the beneficiaries and by providing public access to the gardens. Beneficiaries: The beneficiaries are the public in Antrim and surrounding districts. Harm: There are some risks flowing from these activities but these are managed by the group management and professional venue staff. Private Benefit: There is no private benefit for Trustees and volunteers. Any benefit they will gain is from experience and knowledge through meetings and outings and is incidental and will directly contribute to achieving the Charity’s purposes.
