Public benefits

Our aim is to advance public benefit via education by the delivery of group programs that address the lack of comprehensive IT and basic programming skills in both primary and secondary education up to GCSE level and in adult learners. We also plan to have specialist programs to address learning difficulties/special needs training and development.

It is hoped that these programs can be rolled out to schools and local groups in the surrounding area to enable access to previously unavailable resources. It is also our aim to target areas of high unemployment and to discuss the possibility of offering courses to groups such as local rehabilitation centres and outreaches with the aim of providing training to improve employability prospects. These benefits will be demonstrated through feedback, evaluation and possibly examinations in the future if the organisation can get accreditation. We will also use the numbers seeking assistance in the future to demonstrate benefits. The purposes of our charity will lead to no harm. There will be no private benefit flowing from this purpose.

What your organisation does

The Skills Garage will offer a series of extra-curricular courses to the local primary and secondary schools to be delivered in-house which will allow students to develop a more in-depth working knowledge of the more commonly used software packages and programming concepts and languages. Both these programs and an advanced version will also be

offered to adult learners with the possibility of obtaining a qualification at the end of the course being an option. The Skills Garage will also offer a series of both one-to-one and group courses which will support parents to develop the skills necessary to advance their child’s educational and personal needs. Through the medium of photography, the Skills Garage will encourage participants to record their shared common experiences and understanding of their journey through life to date.
