What your organisation does
Firstly we provide a community hall facility for use by the local people. The local children's play group has used our hall during the day for over 30 years. They have also availed of its use for staff meetings and training in the evenings. the hall is used by a number of other organisations during the evenings including loughgall vintage club,
Loughgall district orange order, Loughgall ladies lodge, county Armagh Community Development, Loughgall orange lodge, the royal arch purple organisation, the Imperial grand black Chapter. We are at present engaging with the youth of the area in collaboration with the southern education and library board. We are at present involved with upgrading the hall facility with an application to the space and Place programme. we have a charity auction planned for april and we are at present collecting items for the sale from the local inhabitants. This day needs a lot of help and we are holding monthly planning meetings in our hall to attempt involve a number of local volunteers. In line with this we have secured a small grant from the volunteer now project to help with our recruiting. We run a number of events through out the year to to foster social interaction and inclusion which help to bring the local people closer together which helps to develop a closer community. we help to increase education and skills for both the local people and also group members. we obtained a grant from awards for all and were thus able to participate in their training programme facilitated by Volunteer Now. We ran a marshalling and stewarding course in our hall which was attended by over 20 people and this gives us trained personnel for some of the larger outdoor events we run most recently being the queens diamond jubilee celebrations when we had over 750 people in attendance.
