SKY Club promotes the social inclusion of children and young people with a learning disability in their local area, ensure they have equality of opportunity in accessing social and leisure opportunities in the right environment with the right support. The SKY club operates in a local community centre and aims to increase public awareness and
understanding of the abilities of people with a learning disability, their problems and needs and those of their family, dependants and carers in order to assist their integration to society. SKY Club encourages mutual help, support and co-operation between families, dependants and carers of children and young people with a learning disability in the local area and also between them and other agencies and individuals who work for and with them. The support to the members is provided by volunteers therefore the club promotes volunteering and the voluntary sector. SKY Club promotes the effectiveness of Mencap in local area and is an affiliated group to the Royal Mencap Society and therefore, through its work, SKY Club ensures the effective use of charitable resources.
What your organisation does
The SKY Club provides social and leisure opportunities for children and young people with learning disabilities on a weekly basis. The clubs activities provide a supportive environment for parents to meet with their children. The club supports volunteers to grow and develop and assist in ensuring the club operates in a safe way for its members.

Charitable purposes
The objects for the SKY Club are; (a) The relief of people with a learning disability in particular by the provision of help and support for them and for their families, dependants and carers, and to prevent learning disabilities for the public benefit; (b) To provide or assist in the provision of facilities for the recreation or other leisure time occupation for people who have the need thereof by reason of learning disability with the object of improving their conditions of life.
