Public benefits

(1) Promotion of health. The main benefit which flows from purpose 1 is the assistance provided to critically ill patients through the provision of modern medical facilities and equipment. This is evidenced through the purchase of a Fibre-Optic Bronchoscope and video equipment, which is essential in diagnosing and treating lung conditions and

vital in the management of airway problems, and an Echocardiogram machine which is used daily to diagnose cardiac problems and assist in the safe placement of internal monitors. Revive also provides additional assistance to patients’ families by providing overnight accommodation and toiletries. The charity’s beneficiaries are the critically ill patients of the Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and their families. This could potentially include any member of the general public. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from this purpose. (2) Advancement of Education The main benefit which flows from purpose 2 is that staff of the Intensive Care Unit can attend seminars, conferences and courses to extend their knowledge in the specialist field of intensive care, leading to improved care for patients. REVIVE has co-funded several important research projects over the years and funded staff to attend training courses and international conferences. In June 2015, for example, 3 members of the Intensive Care Unit attended a critical care conference in Edinburgh. The charity’s beneficiaries are the staff of the Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast and ultimately the critically ill patients treated by the staff. This could potentially include any member of the general public. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from this purpose.

What your organisation does

REVIVE provides as up to date and extensive facilities as possible in the Intensive Care Unit of the Royal Victoria Hospital while also providing funds for staff of the Intensive Care Unit to attend seminars, conferences and courses to extend their knowledge in the specialist field of intensive care.
