Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved Relationships between home and school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead

to harm. The benefit is for the children at St Joseph's PS . Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at St Joseph's PS . Charity trustees ( PTA committee members) are usually also the parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

Our PTA is made up of elected voluntary staff and parents of St Joseph's P.S. All parents, staff and governors are invited throughout the year to share their skills and help at the events which we run. The programme of events are open to pupils, staff, their families and the wider community. We run fundraisers of various sizes and always aim to

include as many people as possible with as much fun and community cohesion as possible. Along with annual events like supporting the Halloween party, the tombola and raffles, we also have yes day and other events. In consultation with principal, children, parents and staff we fund a range of items and services that directly benefit the learning and teaching within the school and enhance the school and it's environment for all of the stakeholders. Alongside fundraising we value and build relationships within the school and the community and promote and value the relationships which help in furthering our children's education. We have paid for the set up of the school website. The website supports the pupils' learning as well as providing current and relevant information to parents, the community and interested prospective parents. The website also promotes the great work of the school. We have funded many additional learning resources- Interactive Whiteboards, Art resources, Maths problem solving books, ipads, to name but a few. We have also been involved in fundraising for other charities and have engaged our trustees and other parents in this. For example, we have raised funds for cancer charities.
