Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead

to harm. The benefit is for children at Castle Tower School. Charity Trustees (PTA Committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as the other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and link built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for the children at Castle Tower School. Charity Trustees (PTA Committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence again benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

We help to raise vital funds for the school through various mediums such as: the summer & Christmas fairs, Chinese nights and fireside quizzes. In consultation with teachers from all three campuses, we then allocate funds where they are most needed. The Association have raised money for: trips, sensory equipment, I pads, cameras, bikes, helmets

and outdoor equipment, raised beds and equipment for gardening. Our aim has always been to forge closer links between home and school by bringing parents/carers together socially in support of the school. However, we also want to strengthen links between parents/carers because we believe this will naturally benefit us as carers and have a positive impact on the school as a whole. We are aware that parents/carers rarely have the opportunity to meet and to that end we will run coffee mornings and times when parents/carers can meet and relax together, exchange experiences and ideas.
