Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from this purpose include working in partnership with parents/guardians and encouraging them to understand and provide for the needs of their children by offering appropriate play opportunities to enhance the development and learning opportunities for their child and encouraging parents/guardians themselves to become

involved in the activities of the centre. These benefits are evidenced through the numbers of parents/guardians and their children using our centre, verbal feedback from them, through questionnaires we issue during the year and referrals made from those who have used our centre to other parents/guardians. They are also evidenced by the independent evaluation of our services by the Department of Education Inspectorate, a yearly inspection by Social Services and evaluation by other professionals in the childcare field. The possibility of harm, for example, by injury through play activities, is outweighed by the benefits and greatly reduced by the policies and procedures in place to address such risks – for example child protection policy, code of conduct for staff and volunteers, health and safety policy. The benefits of this purpose are the children and their parents/guardians in the North Down & Ards area.
