Public benefits

In relation to a) to f) in Purposes above, a) HSO will benefit victims of disaster across Nepal by saving lives, reducing suffering and minimizing adverse consequences. Our disaster response and search and rescue teams specialise in remote mountainous regions, and in doing so will directly benefit these remote communities. b) HSO will benefit

individuals, groups and communities who may require and are entitled to the provision of highly skilled, qualified, well equipped and well-coordinated emergency services. This will also benefit the standards and qualifications of those people who work in the search and rescue industry as trainers or trainees in Nepal and elsewhere, particularly Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK. To benefit the victims of disaster, HSO will liaise with all other emergency response agencies and organisations to co-ordinate roles and responsibilities and to maximise efficiency and effectiveness in disaster response situations. HSO will share expertise and provide training with quality assurance and technical programmes. c) HSO will benefit the lifestyles and security of people and communities in neighbouring countries. d) Victims of disaster and associated organisations worldwide will benefit from HSO’s research and input into the international knowledge base for disaster response. e) HSO will benefit those at risk, assist in the prevention of loss of life and promote the preservation of life for the general public in Nepal. f) HSO will benefit people and communities in Nepal as well as those in other places, particularly Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK in their understanding and achievement of sustainable and secure lifestyles. Charitable purposes

Himalayan Safety Organisation’s (HSO) purpose is to provide disaster response and search and rescue for victims of disaster across the Himalayan regions especially in remote mountainous regions, without regard to race, religion, caste, gender, economic circumstance or political persuasion. HSO will, a) maintain and resource the continuous professional development of a pool of highly skilled and qualified inter-agency and organisation safety experts who will be equipped to be the first responders and search and rescue specialists to disasters across Nepal. b) foster, develop and maintain a network of relationships and protocols with emergency response agencies in Nepal, in order to optimise the national emergency and disaster response capacity. c) develop the capacity for international deployment for disaster response throughout the greater Himalayas. d) contribute to the international knowledge base about best practice in disaster risk reduction and disaster response. e) foster, educate and improve the knowledge, skills and understanding of families and communities in remote mountainous regions and/ or communities at risk of natural hazards, through support programmes for community response to disasters, disaster risk reduction and sustainable processes and practices, to mitigate the impact of natural hazards and make communities resilient. f) foster, develop and support programmes that enable communities to achieve fulfilling, sustainable and secure lifestyles, in harmony and understanding with their neighbours and environment locally and further afield.
