Purpose 1 – enhance the development and education of children under the age of 14 years by encouraging parents guardians to understand and provide for the needs of their children by:- (i) offering appropriate play facilities and sessional day-care facilities with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the
activities of the Company, ensuring that the Company offers opportunities for all children, regardless of religion, culture, race or means; and (ii) Encouraging the study of the needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in and recognition of such needs of such children and their families in the local areas; and The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include providing a warm safe stimulating environment under the Highscope curriculum which encourages opportunity for all regardless of religion, culture race or means. We provide opportunities for parents to share in the education of their children by being involved in the management committee, volunteering or training in our group, this ensures the promotion of public interest in the local community and working in partnership for the good of the group. Dungiven Community Playgroup believe that the direct benefits which flow from this purpose are a high quality pre-school education for the children in our local community and the opportunity for volunteering for the parents of the children attending our setting. These benefits can be demonstrated by advertising our facility in the local press and church bulletins, holding information evenings to promote our services and share information within the community, and attendance at the five morning sessions per week. Purpose 2 – support the values and principles of NIPPA. The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include access to a high level of support from a team of highly qualified locally based Early years staff, networking support and opportunities, support and professional development, sharing of information through Early Years publications and regular newsletters, opportunities to attend specialist training to develop skills in the setting and wider community, cluster groups and regular training for all staff, options to have our setting made available to parents seeking early years education through access online, Early Years specialist support service and generous discounts on events, equipment and insurance. These benefits can be demonstrated by attendance at meetings and briefing sessions to bring information to Early Years so they can carry forward proposals to local and higher levels of committee to implement change in the sector. All staff attend regular training and information sessions either facilitated by early years or outside bodies to provide information and training on a range of topics related to our setting. The purposes of our charity do not give rise to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are anyone in the local area and community who wishes to avail of our sessional high quality early years education. There are no private benefits flowing from the purposes.
What your organisation does
We are a cross community pre-school playgroup which provides education for 3-4 year olds under the Highscope Curriculum. We have a maximum capacity of 24 children and employ 3 members of staff on a part time basis We provide training and volunteering opportunities for parents students And members of the community who wish to follow a career in
early years. We work closely with a range of professionals and bodies which provide support and guidance to enhance the overall service to the community.
