Public benefits

The purpose of the organisation is to improve the health and well-being of adults and children in the Mid-Ulster area through the provision of skilled karate training. The direct benefits which flow from the purpose include (a) improving cardiovascular fitness, strength and flexibility levels through regular training; (b) improving ability and

confidence through achievement of higher grade belts; (c) improving social skills through attendance at training events and participation in amateur karate competitions; (d) instilling courtesy, respect and consideration through participation in a disciplined martial art; (e) learning the art of self-defence without weapons. These benefits are and will be demonstrated through (a) progression of students through a series of grading classes and awards of higher grade belts; (b) participation in, and successes at, amateur karate competitions (c) building relationships with other karate clubs at joint training events. The purpose of our charity may lead to physical injury of a student during training or competition, but the risk is minimised by wearing all possible protective equipment and strict teaching and adherence to the rules and discipline of karate. The charity’s beneficiaries are children and adults in the Mid-Ulster area. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that the Chief Instructor, through training students, can enhance his own progression towards higher dan black belts. This benefit is incidental but necessary because the students require a trainer who continually improves his own performance, enabling him to train them to a higher standard.
