Public benefits

The direct benefits that flow from this group purpose include the provision of pre-school education for children. The charities purposes will benefit the public by providing a play based learning environment in which children of all race, ability, culture, gender and religion can access the pre-school curriculum and have the opportunities to reach

their full potential. These benefits are evident through parent feedback, Early Years advisor and regular evaluation of the service by Social Services and the Education and Training Inspectorate. The Children are beneficiaries of the purpose and those who attend are under statutory school age and live in Downpatrick and surrounding areas. Our setting takes steps to ensure risk assessments are carried out fully and robust policies and procedures are in place. Our recent inspection with regard to the new minimum standards has enabled us to reflect further on our practice and provision and enable change within our setting. Children take part in the media initiative programme in which all staff are trained. We support the values and principles of the Early Years organisation for young children. Rathkeltair cross community playgroup is a non-profit making organisation which is under a voluntary management committee and we have 3 fully trained members of staff. Accounts are audited by an allocated accountant. Therefore there is no private benefit, either financial or otherwise to trustees and committee.
