Public benefits

Relieve poverty, sickness and the aged and to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Coalisland Neighbourhood Renewal Area and district area of Coalisland and its environs. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include increased information for local people and reduced isolation. In the area isolation has reduced due to

the activities provided with large numbers of people attending activities such as health awareness day, house of health activities, Intergenerational programmes and community garden project. Such activities provide opportunities for local people to interact which helps their mental wellbeing. Members of the committee attend various meetings about housing council matters, etc and Information is fed back to the wider community through notice boards, Facebook and Newsletters. This purpose does not give rise to any harm. …….by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education…. The direct benefits which flow include residents availing of opportunities to gain skills and experience by taking part in training courses. A number of local residents have attended different courses such as computer classes, arts and crafts. Such courses have helped local people to become more familiar with the computerised world and have developed an interest in continuing to learn among some. A mentoring programme has enable residents to learn to drive and gain employment or accessed further education opportunities The purpose does not give rise to any harm. …….to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are reduced anxiety among older people and a better informed community. Our weekly adult drop in provided an opportunity to invite speakers to come along and inform residents about varying topics such as crime prevention, biodiversity, benefits advice (CAB), community involvement, etc. Such talks have left local residents better informed on each topic which has lead to improvements at home such as ensuring adequate safety measures in the home, ensuring that all qualifying benefits are acquired, etc. The availability of our Community Hub is an excellent asset in our local community as it provides a base for weekly outreach services such as CAB, Safe and Well, Sure Start, Southern Health and Social Care Trust. The purpose does not give rise to any harm to establish or to secure the establishment of a Community Centre (hereinafter called “the Centre”) and to maintain and manage or to co-operate with any local statutory authority in the maintenance and management of such a Centre for activities promoted by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects. All services/activities run by Coalisland Residents and Community Forum are accessible to all residents through the provision of the Community Hub. The Community Hub is used by residents of all ages, sex, and race, political, religious or other opinion. Residents would not travel to bigger towns to avail of services provided in the community and without this provision their health and wellbeing would have continued to deteriorate. Coalisland Residents and Community Forum committee members may receive benefits such as increased experience from being involved in running the group, availing of training opportunities provided that they can transfer to other aspect of their lives Trustees need to be trained to enable good governance and ensure benefits are transferred to Beneficiaries No conflict of interest. It is always agreed through the committee meetings which trustees will attend activities/events
