The benefits the group aims to provide is: •a voice for improvements to the park and surrounding area •a safe community and regenerated space for locals and other users •To attract resources for a programme of activities for people using the park to be more active, healthy and •To build confidence and community spirit in our community. -
How are these benefits capable of being demonstrated? •The benefits are evidenced by being heard and our voice acted on as a group by statutory bodies and agencies. •An improved physical environment, safer park and streets without graffiti; vandalism and people using it. •Events to bring the community together. •Programme of activity in the park with increased bona fide users - Who are the intended beneficiaries? Community as a whole; park users. The group have put on some activities to see if targeting individuals can support the development of the community however this is not its primary purpose. - Is there any harm or potential for harm as a result of the purposes being carried out? No - Does anyone gain a private benefit as a result of the purposes being carried out? No

Charitable purposes
The objects of the Group shall be:- 3.1 To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Smithfield Park and Area Association (hereinafter described as “the area of benefit”) without distinction of age, gender, sexual orientation, race, political, religious, disability, career or non-carer, by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education, and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. (a) To maintain, improve or provide public amenities and the improvement of the physical environment to which the public have free access; (b) To preserve and protect for the benefit of the public whatever lands, buildings or other structures may exist in Smithfield Park and Area and its environs of particular beauty or historical or architectural interest; (c) To advance education; (d) To provide and assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life of the inhabitants of the area of benefit; (e) To promote all or any objects for the benefits of the inhabitants of the area of benefit which now or hereafter may be deemed by law to be charitable.
