Public benefits
The public benefits which flow from Derrynoose Community Development Association's purposes are 1: The targeting social need, reducing social exclusion and building community participation amongst people living in Derrynoose. 2: Through increasing participation in sport , physical activity, art, music and drama improving the health and well being
of people living in Derrynoose. 3. Through providing opportunities for education and training, increasing the knowledge and skills of the people of Derrynoose therefore enabling them to contribute more fully to their local communities. 4: The provision of a vibrant modern community centre for the use of all local groups which promotes community cohesion and reconciliation in Derrynoose. There is occasionally some private benefit benefits as a result of activities undertaken in the Community Centre. These include the payment of musicians, the hire of equipment or specialist Services and are incidental to the main work carried out. The private benefit supports the Association in the delivery of its public benefits through the provision of art, music and drama leading to improving the health and wellbeing of people living in Derrynoose. There is no private benefit to any trustee We have identified no potential harm arising from our purpose.
What your organisation does
Derrynoose Community Development Association provides and manages the Derrynoose Community Centre. This provides a modern purpose built community Centre for the use of the people of Derrynoose and by local community based groups. It provides a range of leisure and sporting facilities for the use of the local community; these include community
festivals and community sports days. It provides opportunities for art , drama and music and local education classes and in partnership with the local school provides an annual Christmas fair. It provides facilities for the local youth club and for the pensioners club. It provides services for the local community at the time of family bereavements including a funeral meals service. It supports summer schemes for local children.
