Public benefits
The benefits which flow from the purposes of the Portadown Christian Centre include the helping of individuals of various backgrounds and denominations. The Church aims to provide moral teaching, pastoral care and Christian views through the words of God. The Church encourages community outreach and aims to help those in need of extra care,
either that of one parent families, those who are going through bereavement and those who may be victims of stress, depression or anxiety by providing counselling. We believe that everyone is able to benefit from the teachings. We believe these benefits are evidenced through individuals being healed and freed from depression and fear. Many of our congregation have commented on how we have helped them, whether it be from the teachings of God in the bible or from other individuals sharing their experiences and helping others to realise that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We, at the Portadown Christian Centre, bring in pastors from various other backgrounds so that they too may share their word and we have been told by the congregation that they feel this is beneficial and helps them to relate to their own life and feelings. We do not feel that any harm will be brought to individuals nor will there be any harm that will exceed the benefits of the Portadown Christian Centre. The charity’s beneficiaries are all those people who attend the Church and we aim to help them whether it be to help the individual cope with illness (on various levels) and helping their families to cope also with their differing needs. We realise that an individual may be suffering an illness but that the family may also be suffering in various secondary forms and with this we aim to offer pastoral care in these instances. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that of the pastor’s expenses which is a weekly wage, this is both related to and necessary to be able to achieve the purposes of the Church. We believe that the pastor is a worthy expense in that he shares his views and teachings with the congregation. We feel that the congregation are relishing the benefits also because our congregation often comment and we are growing on an annual basis.
What your organisation does
The organisation is a church that runs weekly meetings and brings in pastors from afar to speak of how they have seen Christianity. They aim to help those back on the path that may have lost Christianity and to help as many people in need.
