Public benefits
In furtherance of its purposes, Lisburn Buildings Preservation Trust provides advice and guidance to other organisations and the general public on conservation issues relating to individual buildings, structures, landscapes and streetscapes that are in the public view and use. It co-operates with Statutory and other Bodies and Societies to achieve
its objects of encouraging conservation and re-use of buildings. Its purposes directly benefit the re-use of buildings and areas by the public which are repaired and brought back into use, and which may serve to encourage conservation of other structures in the area for the same purpose. This in turn serves to generate the public knowledge and appreciation of the historic environment and to regenerate previously underused or neglected areas. The benefits are either highly visible to the public, as public areas in the urban landscape, or for use by the public groups, as with buildings returned to use for community applications. The regeneration causes no harm to the areas involved, rather it enhances them for public appreciation and use.
