Public benefits

We as a community have already provided a few events which have been beneficial to the public. These are Senior Citizens Xmas lunch which brought the older people in our community to be able to get together and meet up and get to know each other better, which has brought the older people in our community closer together. Day trip to Crumlin Road

Gaol, which brought everyone in the community together, as it was open to all ages. This was a very educational trip which again brought our community members together. It will help to build stronger relations with the community both young and old and the This project will offer opportunities for the community to take part in structured programmes of activity that will include study visits, educational tours, Xmas themed activities. We aim at getting the community more interactive and taking part in projects that will help to tackle both social isolation and rural isolation. This will help to further build on relationships internally and externally and will all serve to improve elements of community safety and build stronger good relations in this area. In relation to young people we will be focusing on getting more young people involved and to have a voice in what happens within their immediate community. It is the intention to create a youth club once a venue is identified and that the young people will support.

What your organisation does

Our Community Association is working together with Local PSNI, Council and the residents that live in Margaret Avenue and Margaret Square, to improve relationships between everyone. We have recently recieved funding from the PCSP which funded a day trip to the Crumlin Road Gaol which was open to all residents and everyone enjoyed this. We have also

done workshops with our local PSNI team on Anti-social behaviour and safety within the community. We plan to do lots more events which include a quiz night, day trips, fun days, etc. We are also trying to get things for our community which include somewhere for the children to play football safely off the road and so no property can get damaged or children get hurt.
