Public benefits

Public Benefit Statement The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are better educational outcomes for children and parents through the provision of learning opportunities; improved life skills and self-esteem for children and parents; greater emotional well-being and greater community cohesion and partnership working among parents, staff

and the local community. Other benefits include the promotion of healthier lifestyles for parents and children and a safer, cleaner environment in which to live and play. The above benefits are evidenced in a number of ways, for example through quantitative data from project evaluations; recorded observations and feedback from parents, teachers and the local community; data from other sources including other service providers both statutory and non-statutory. There is no identifiable harm to any person through the pursuit of the above purpose. The beneficiaries of this purpose are the children, parents and teachers of Holy Family Primary School and the local community with whom they engage. Trustees and their families may gain access to opportunities and activities offered through the charity. Trustees and volunteers may also gain an increased sense of well-being through their involvement with the charity and the provision of services to others. Those Trustees and their families who choose to use the charities services can gain improved life skills and self-esteem which can in turn improve their capacity to reach out to other beneficiaries and contribute to greater community cohesion in furtherance of Friends of Holy Family’s charitable objects. Potential benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure that benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. Trustees and their families access services in the same way as other beneficiaries. They do not receive preferential access to opportunities or benefits.

What your organisation does

To engender a sense of community, Friends of Holy Family works closely with the school to offer and promote activities for parents, children and members of the local community. Activities include cross cultural and cross generational projects and fun days, community clean up days, active travel days, a campaign for bike parking at the school and

whole family healthy living projects. Education for adults in our community is promoted by Friends of Holy Family which will in turn provide better educational outcomes for children in our school. We work closely with the school to organise and fund education programmes for parents, grandparents and community members. Computer, eSafety, phonics, maths, parenting, mind your mental health and suicide awareness courses have been successfully organised and well supported by parents and the community. We also seek out free courses and activities available for parents and promote these through the school and parish newsletters. We fundraise to support the above projects. We use Holy Family PS as our meeting and activity base.
