Public benefits
The public benefit which flows from the benefit of the advancement of education is by providing a facility to create opportunities for inhabitants to enhance knowledge and understanding the culture around the Orange Order and Ulster Scots promoting an understanding of history through study and conversation. The public benefit which flows from the
benefit of interests of social welfare is by looking at areas which affects our inhabitants and provide the help needed or contact organisations that can provide information this can help elevate stress and anxiety. The public benefit which flows from recreation or other leisure time provides an opportunity to examine personal values, to focus on what is important to you. It gives you the balance you need to deal with your non-leisure activities and can provide relief from stress and boredom. It can help promote not only better emotional health but physical health as well. The public benefit which flows form our second object is include providing community development activities to advance citizenship in the local community bringing inhabitants together improving community life through coming together to celebrate culture and history, but also by bringing the community together promoting social inclusion this leads to many more benefits including empowering the community, strengthening capacity of people becoming active citizens. By encouraging inhabitants to come together we are helping to deal with isolation which can occur especially in rural areas which can lead to stress and anxiety that can lead to health related issues. Also by liaising with local authority’s e.g. council, education and policing and building relations so the community as a say and input helps people to recognise and develop their ability and potential and organise themselves to respond to problems and needs which they share. By establishing of strong community that controls and uses its assets to promote social justice and help improve the quality of community life, working in dialogue to help shape and determine changes in their own community. The public benefit which flows from our last object is the advancement of the culture and heritage of Ulster-Scots providing enhanced public understanding of history of Ulster-Scots through preserved historical items which can be enjoyed by future generations. Language, heritage and culture are important to all of us; they give us a sense of place and help us to understand who we are and have confidence in our identity. Given our rich cultural mix we hope to develop and strengthen the Ulster Scots language, heritage and culture. We hope by keeping the language and traditions alive and passing on the rich cultural mix will educate and influence the next generation. Not only do we look at and appreciate our own culture we try to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures in our area. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from participants which is ongoing. There is no possibility of harm as we only provide a group that comes together with a common interest. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living Coleraine and district area. A private benefit to trustees may arise from any training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
We come together on a regular basis in the local Orange Hall to reminisce, meet others with common interests, organise bus runs, outings e.g. The Boyne Heritage Site, Belfast City Hall and European Christmas Market and tea dances. Have special one off events e.g. Burns Night Supper, Christmas intergenerational party and summer fun day for all the
community and a “ Saint Patrick Remembered” evening. Occasionally we invite speakers to come along to give us a talk on an area of historical interest. We try to hold events that are truly cross community inviting people from all faiths and cultures. Recently we took part in a reminiscence project and created a book looking at the history of our group and the surrounding area. As a group we have been instrumental in raising funds to update the hall, equipment and the outside area to make it a more welcoming social area for the members.

Charitable purposes
The Association is established to Promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the Coleraine and district area and its environs (hereinafter described as the "the area of benefit") without distinction of age, sex, race, political, religious or other opinion. It will so do by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary organizations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of the social welfare, education, recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants. Establish a Community Development initiative and to co-operate with the relevant organizations in the promotion of activities by the Association and its constituent bodies in furtherance of the above objects. Advance knowledge and appreciation of the Ulster-Scots language and culture and to encourage understanding and acceptance of all indigenous cultures to the area of benefit.
