Public benefits

The direct public benefit which flows from our purpose to promote a healthy life style to members who have suffered heart related problems is to improve health outcomes and reduce levels of stress and anxiety. The direct benefit which flows from keeping members informed of any new procedures in the treatment of heart related problems is that by

keeping members up to date means they can stay well informed about their health condition which can help elevate stress and anxiety, giving them the power to control decisions and make informed choices. These benefits are evidenced through feedback from participants which is ongoing. There is no possibility of harm as we only provide information and support from professionals in this field of expertize. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Northern Ireland who may have heart related problems. A private benefit to trustees may arise from any training in good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

The Causeway Cardiac Support Group meets monthly from September to November, and from January to May on the second Wednesday of each month in the lecture theatre at the Causeway Hospital, Coleraine. There are about 40 members in the Group. A varied programme of speakers, some relating to heart related problems, have been with us in the past year.

The group is made up with people who have had heart attacks in the past and they have found these speakers very helpful. Membership is open to anyone who wishes to join. In December we have a Christmas Dinner which is well attended.
