Public benefits

Our organisation meets the public benefit requirement as follows: The production and selling of bottled water provides employment for people with learning disabilities and disadvantaged people from across Larne (not limited to). This will target, people with a disability and people in poverty Our project advances education by providing

educational tours, children and young people attending these tours will have enhanced knowledge and understanding of topics linked to the national curriculum Any surplus generated by Water that Works will be donated to International Water aid efforts, our public benefit is therefore aligned to the prevention or relief of poverty in underdeveloped countries through the provision of donations to support water aid efforts. The educational and heritage based tours will increase access to and understanding of history by being given access to historic sites (where St Comgall was born), the well from which water is extracted etc. This will be open to the wider public but in particular will target schools, children and young people

What your organisation does

Our organisation extracts water from Limestone Aquifers deep beneath the Irish Coastline, we use this to produce 500ml bottled water which is then sold to public, private or 3rd sector clients. In doing so, we create employment for people with learning disabilities and people in disadvantage. In addition, we are developing educational and heritage

based tours of the bottling plant and the well. We can make a significant contribution to the National Curriculum; The Limestone Aquifers from which this water is sourced can be dated back to the Jurassic Period. The project can also showcase sandstone from the Triassic period and hard chalk from the Cretaceous Period, combining to create a truly unique rock formation. The geographic significant of the project is profound, and the Project will provide educational tours on rock formation and the extraction and bottling of water. The Project will offer schools, wedding parties & events the opportunity to create individualised water bottles. The project will have the capacity to provide creative design and label production which will enable individuals and organisations to create their own unique branded water for special occasions and events
