Public benefits
To promote and provide the local community with education, training and personal development opportunities to enhance an individual’s social and personal skills and develop them to participate in valued roles in the community. A direct benefit is provided to individuals and the community in helping to develop their skills and achieve a level of
independence. This has an impact on the community as a whole and there is no harm flowing from public benefit. There is a benefit to providing opportunities to advance citizenship and community development. This would be achieved by providing opportunities for social interaction and social inclusion which support, enrich and empower the community. We will develop programmes in conjunction with other partnerships to provide a range of services which offer choice, opportunity, independence, equality and health and wellbeing. By giving individuals a sense of ownership and security in turn will help reduce isolation and potentially prevent depression. By promoting volunteering for individuals in their local community both the individual and local community benefit. The individual benefits through their role with the organisation while the organisation benefits from their voluntary input. The public benefit flowing from this purpose exhibits development of the individual’s skills and self-worth and small community groups sustain to deliver their services. We will provide facilities that will benefit the local community, provide space for these opportunities to take place and a safe and neutral venue for the community to congregate. We will measure this by monitoring all activities, how many people approach our group, our coverage in local media, support given by statutory agencies, the number of face to face or telephone contacts and use of our facilities for the opportunities we offer.
What your organisation does
Involve NI was set up to offer individuals the chance to learn new skills and participate in activities. To provide support, information, training and advice which enhance the effectiveness of volunteers, such as first aid,
health and safety, etc. Organised life skills training for adults with learning disabilities tailored to their interests and needs it would be hoped that this training will help them to become involved in volunteering and even employment. W e have been supporting adults with learning disabilities through our work and believe this is a valuable piece of work to our local community. To promote volunteering for people in their local community and improve basics skill levels and open doors for people with learning disabilities and improve quality of life. Particularly in a time where there is social and economic deprivation the need for such assistance is highest. Most importantly it will develop self esteem, interpersonal sills and confidence combined with life skills and core skills to improve quality of life.
