Public benefits
The purposes of the Belfast One World Run are: Purpose 1: To support by means of financial assistance any charitable project for the relief of poverty, sickness or disability or the aged, the protection and preservation of health or the advancement of education in any part of the world (especially in countries defined as “developing world”
countries), without distinction of age, gender, nationality, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, political or religious opinion. Benefits: the direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the donation of funds through our 4 benefitting agencies – Concern, Christian Aid, Oxfam and Trocaire – to help people in need in the developing world. The agencies deliver a range of projects in developing countries such as providing food, seeds and tools to grow food, healthcare facilities, clean water, disaster relief. Demonstration of Benefits: The benefits can be demonstrated through the information on our entry forms regarding the work of the 4 benefitting agencies, through information and feedback included on our website, and through our social media channels Facebook and Twitter. Potential for Harm: There is no potential for harm. Who Benefits: Beneficiaries are people in need in the developing world. Private Benefit: There is no private benefit. Purpose 2: In association with other charities throughout Ireland, raise awareness and promote understanding of the problems of developing world countries as defined in 3.1 above, and encourage support in Ireland for charitable projects in “developing world” countries. Benefits: the direct benefits which flow from this purpose include maintaining public awareness of the problems facing those in poverty in the developing world and thereby encouraging donations. Demonstration of benefits: The benefits can be demonstrated through the amount of money we raise each year for the 4 benefiting agencies as seen in our accounts, and through information and feedback on our website and social media channels. Who Benefits: Beneficiaries are people in need in the developing world. Private Benefit: There is no private benefit.
What your organisation does
The Belfast One World Run organises an annual run, and raises funds through associated activities including entry fees, t-shirt sales, raffle, cupcake, tea and coffee sales, quiz. The run has taken place every year for the last 28 years and raises approximately £8,000 per year (A total sum of £186,000.) The money raised is distributed to our 4
benefitting agencies for their work to relieve poverty in the developing world - Christian Aid, Concern Worldwide, Oxfam Ireland and Trocaire
