Public benefits

Cregagh Community Association provides direct benefit to the local community by providing programmes and activities aimed at addressing issues of poverty and particularly those issues affecting people as a result of their age, their state of health and general well-being. The Association also provides an indirect benefit in assisting other groups

in the locality, i.e. statutory bodies, youth and community groups and churches better target and deliver their services and activities to those in need in our community. Cregagh Community Association also provides a wider public benefit to the wider community in Northern Ireland by providing support, assistance and other benefits to those in need within the area of benefit; it is in the interests of the wider community that Cregagh Community Association continues to help those in need in the Cregagh area.

What your organisation does

Cregagh Community Association provides social facilities and interaction aimed at addressing the health and well-being needs of older people in the community; these activities include regular lunches for older people where opportunities to meet and socialize are provided where they would not otherwise be available. The Association runs

intergenerational programmes where young people and older people participate in activities and programmes which break down generational barriers and create a more cohesive community. We run annual community festivals at certain and different times of the year to provide safe and enjoyable activities. We have run other programmes and activities aimed at addressing different identified needs, e.g. Community Pharmacy Project Cregagh Community association runs a Parent and Toddlers group. Cregagh Community Association hosts and facilitates an Inter-agency Partnership which brings together the full range of service providers, public bodies and stakeholders to combine efforts and collaborate in the provision of services, activities and programmes to the betterment of everyone in the local community. The Community Association was a key partner in the establishment of a new Community Centre and continues to work with the Education authority and Belfast City Council on the use and management of the Centre.
