Public benefits

The group meet a public benefit by carers being able to share their experiences together benefiting their social, emotional and mental well being. The group facilitates respite for their members to ease their stress levels sustained whilst carrying out their carer duties. By attending the group the members rely to a much lesser extent on GP

appointments and the NHS in general. Group members also benefit from information sharing in relation to other community groups and services available. These benefits have been demonstrated from positive evaluations with carers and also the people they care for, and by the varied social activities and events organised to cater for their needs. There is no harm or private benefit flowing from these purposes. The beneficiaries are the carers, the people they care for and their friends.

What your organisation does

The Group meets monthly. The activities include the sharing of experiences and information, having speakers to speak on topics of interest to the Group members, going on Group outings as well as attending functions, feeding into Consultations, Strategies which are relevant to Carers and former Carers and to lobby the relevant bodies on the needs of

Carers and former Carers.
