Public benefits

The direct benefits from purpose include a better understanding of community relations through mutual respect and an identifiable shared historical identity leading to better community cohesion. These benefits are (will be) evidenced through the continued growth of the society membership and attendance levels of our monthly lectures/talks. This is

also reflected in the number of unique visitors and enquiries we receive through our website and blog. The purposes of our charity may leads to no harm. The charity's beneficiaries are the general public notably the local north coast communities in Ballintoy, Ballycastle, Bushmills and outlying villages and communities in North Antrim in general. There is absolutely no private benefit from this purpose.

What your organisation does

The "Society" organises educational lectures/talks on various historical/cultural/archaeological subjects once a month throughout the year. We have also organised exhibitions, carried out research and worked with local Universities - Queens, Ulster University, as well as local government bodies, Public Records Office, etc. and local schools,

community groups, churches etc. Indeed anyone who is interested in their past. The society has taken part in archaeological digs at Dunluce and Kinbane Castles and attended many similar lectures here in Northern Ireland and in Scotland. One of our most successful exhibitions was our “Ballintoy hidden history Project” in conjunction with the National Lottery’s "Heritage Lottery Fund". We have created an extensive "web" of links helping to bond and educate a wide section of our community and peoples.
