Public benefits

Public Benefit: Purposes: To promote play based learning environments for children under statutory school age within the Trillick and surrounding areas - To advance the education of the beneficiaries by the provision of safe and satisfying group play, with the right of parents/carers to take responsibility for and to become involved in the

activities of the group; and to promote the preservation of health of the beneficiaries. The direct beneficiaries are those pre-school age children aged 3-4 within the Trillick area. The benefits flowing from these purposes include increased knowledge and understanding, enhanced educational readiness and personal and social confidence which enables the children to integrate into the school environment. This is demonstrated by results of ongoing assessment throughout the year such as speech and language and social play. External inspection of the setting by the WHSCT Dept of Education and Education and Training Inspectorate also monitor and demonstrate the impact of the setting's work. Parent/carer feedback received throughout the year and positive feedback and recommendation by local primary schools which the playgroup feeds is also evidence of the benefits flowing from these purposes. With regard to the promotion and preservation of health of the beneficiaries - the benefit flowing from this is that the beneficiaries have the opportunity to learn about the importance of physical exercise, sleep, talking about their emotions and healthy eating is promoted within the setting. This is evidenced by the healthy eating plans and snacks provided and the varied play and topic schemes the beneficiaries follow throughout the year. Again external inspections by Dept of Education and WHSCT monitor this and as well as the health and safety, child protection and safeguarding policies of the setting. These benefit the children as direct beneficiaries but also indirectly benefits the parents/carers and families of those children and also the wider community within the Trillick and surrounding area. Parents and carers are encouraged to get involved with the group and it provides an opportunity for new parents to meet and form new friendships. The village setting also avoids parents having to travel far to access pre-school provision for their children. The playgroup also helps to contribute to the sustainability of the small local rural primary schools which it feeds into. Fundraising and playgroup events provide opportunity for the local community to support the setting and see the positive work it carries out. The cross-community nature of the playgroup also encourages an excellent grounding for community relations within the area with. Purposes: Providing educational and recreational facilities and obtaining / collecting and receiving money by way of grants, donations etc: The playgroup setting and facilities both indoor and outdoor directly benefit the children by offering wide and varied choice of play and learning settings and play equipment for them to use. The impact of the facilities is demonstrated by the skills and confidence gained by the children throughout and is positively assessed by external statutory inspections. Any money received through grants, donations, fundraising etc is carried out lawfully and all monies are used for directly enhancing the provision of the setting and experiences of the beneficiaries. Clear accounting and the use of qualified accountants evidences the appropriate and accountable spending. There is no private benefiting arising form the group's activities and no harm arising from the purposes.
