Public benefits

The trustees are satisfied that the public benefit requirement is met. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include the advancement of Pipe and Drum Music through the education and learning of the young members in our local and wider community leading to be actively responsible youths contributing to enhanced community life. Further

benefits include wider public access to, and enjoyment of, cultural and musical arts. This is demonstrated through the direct teaching of musical instruments such as Pipes and Drums delivered by experienced trained instructors, improvements in the skills of learning musicians and public attendance at performances. The beneficiaries are the general public, primarily from the local community but also further afield. This purpose does not lead to harm. A private benefit might arise where tutors gain, for example transferable skills or knowledge, through their part in classes organized at the venue. However, this benefit is essential to the maintenance of the band as otherwise it could not function or deliver musical performances.

What your organisation does

Each week we provide free tuition in drumming, piping and drum major training. We host monthly committee meetings to ensure we comply with our action plan for the year. As/when required we provide musical entertainment to the local community and other charities. Over the year we take part in competitions and festivals. We also provide solo

performances at Weddings, Funerals, Burns Night, New Year's Eve, War Memorial events. We also host BBQ's and fund raisers each year to assist with overhead costs and expenses for the running of the band - uniforms, equipment etc.
