Friday fun club is a leisure group for children with learning difficulties and their siblings. The benefit that flows from the purpose is promoting enjoyment, integration and increasing public awareness and understanding of children with a learning difficulty. It creates social opportunities for the children and provides a respite service for the

carers/family. It also provides young people in the Lisburn area the opportunity of volunteering and taking responsibility of actively running and being involved in a local club which helps enhances the independence and improves the quality of life of the children and their carers. Beneficiaries of Friday Fun Club would be members with a learning difficulty/volunteers/carers/committee members from all over the Lisburn, Hillsborough, Ballinderry, Moira, Ballynahinch and Dromore areas. These benefits are evident through feedback from parents, club waiting list, referrals from outside agencies, reports from outside agencies and evaluation of activities. There is no private benefit flowing from the purpose of our organisation.

What your organisation does

Friday Fun Club is a leisure group for children with learning difficulties and their siblings. Our aim is to offer parents/carers 2 hours respite every week. The children would come to Friday Fun Club and are encouraged to take part in a varied programme with activities such as cooking, arts and crafts, table board games, quizzes, football,

volleyball, tennis, badminton and other team games etc. We would also go out into the community and do trips to the swimming pool, cinema, parks, farm, pantomime etc. We encourage the children to be independent, have fun and the volunteers to take an active role in the club and take ownership of the club.
