Public benefits

Public Benefit Purpose To advance education and raise public awareness in relation to home safety throughout the District (Newry and Mourne) and, in so doing, to support the work of Home Accident Prevention Northern Ireland. Benefit Element The direct benefits which flow from the above purpose include: Members of the public and in particular,

older people and parents of children under 5, are better informed with regard to accident hazards within the home environment thus enabling them to take action to prevent home accidents. Members of the public are provided with home accident prevention equipment to enable the prevention of home accidents. Demonstration of Benefit Benefits can be demonstrated through evaluation sheets at events assessing the “before and after” level of knowledge of attendees. Harm The purpose of the charity could possibly lead to harm through misuse of equipment provided. We mitigate this harm by ensuring that any equipment meets the appropriate safety standards. We can show any harm is outweighed by the benefits through the numbers of people using the products correctly. Public Element Who is the Benefit for The charity’s beneficiaries are members of the general public, and in particular, older people and parents of young children living in the Newry and Mourne District. Is there any Private Benefit The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that the Trustees are themselves better informed about home accident prevention, this is incidental and necessary to ensure that the Trustees are providing correct information to the public.
