Public Benefit What Benefit? The Public Benefits of Antrim District Citizens Advice Bureau are: To ensure the General Public are informed of the Free, Confidential, Independent and Impartial service of CAB. To ensure the Public are better informed of their rights and responsibilities in order that they do not suffer due to a lack thereof. To
ensure the Public are better informed of the services available to them in order that they do no suffer due to a lack thereof. To advocate on behalf of the Public to ensure they do not suffer through an inability to express their needs effectively. To ensure the Public have relief from poverty and improved quality of life through the provision of income maximising and holistic advice. To ensure the Public are aware of the availability of advocacy on their behalf with other agencies and organisations. To ensure the Public are aware of the availability of lobbying on their behalf with elected representatives and services. Can you demonstrate this? The service provided to the Public is recorded daily on the Citizens Advice database (CARMA). This enables the Bureau to demonstrate the extent to which the public benefit from our activities; for example, we monitor the number of clients, type of enquiries, amount of income we have generated for clients. Statistics are produced on a quarterly basis. An annual client satisfaction survey is undertaken, feedback is also sought from stakeholders, to ensure the Public Benefit continues to be met. Antrim District Citizens Advice Bureau is externally audited on a three yearly cycle, with regards to a ‘Quality of Advice Audit’ which examines the quality of advice service to the public, in addition to an ‘Organisational Audit’ which examines Governance, Finance, etc. We have been successfully assessed as providing a quality advice service to the public. Is any harm or possibility of harm outweighed by the Benefit? No harm or possibility of harm arises from our stated purposes. Who is the Benefit for? The Beneficiaries are the General Public, mainly concentrated in the Antrim locality due to the location of premises but extends across Northern Ireland. Is there any private Benefit? What your organisation does
Antrim Ditrict Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, confidential and impartial advice to everyone regardless of gender, class, religion, sexuality, age or income. We are totally committed to equality and justice for all. We have generalist advice, tribunal representation and money advice provision through our main bureau and outreaches including
Crumlin, Randalstown, Toome, Holywell & Antrim Area Hospitals; specifically targeting disadvantaged groups. Advising on a range of issues including Welfare Benefits, Consumer, Debt, Employment, Housing. Last year we dealt with over 19,000 Issues, generated income of £3.1million for clients, and dealt with over £2.6million of client debt. We ensure our service is accessible to all by providing a multi-channel approach which includes face-to-face advice, telephone advice, and digital advice. We are a full-time Bureau. We also provide awareness and training sessions across the community.
