The direct benefits which flow from purpose 1 include enhanced health and wellbeing and education, promotion of local culture and heritage, reduction of social and rural isolation, provision of activities and facilities in an area deprived in terms of access to services, enhanced civic pride, improved tourism sector in the mid Glens area. These
can be evidenced through general feedback and evaluations taken at events and activities, through the number of years that the festival has taken place and the enhanced activities provided and the increasing number of volunteers becoming involved. In addition this can be evidenced through numbers participating, both locals and visitors, and the increasing number of visitors to the area year on year. There is no harm associated. The Charity’s beneficiaries are the general public residing in the mid Glens area or those who have an interest in the area. Any private benefit is incidental in terms of enhanced health and wellbeing, enhanced capacity and knowledge; or through an improved tourism sector in the area as a result of an increase in visitor numbers during community festival events and activities. The direct benefits which flow from purpose 2 include enhanced health and wellbeing and education, promotion of local culture and heritage, reduction of social and rural isolation, provision of activities and facilities in an area deprived in terms of access to services, enhanced civic pride, improved relations and collaboration between local voluntary organisations and therefore a stronger, more vibrant voluntary sector in the area, and additional opportunities for volunteering in the area. This can be evidenced through number of voluntary organisations and volunteers participating in the planning and delivery of the community festival events and activities, through general feedback and evaluations taken from those involved in the organisation and from those who are participating in the events and activities, through increasing levels of funding received as a result of the festival success, and development and requests of and for opportunities for collaborative activities. There is no harm associated. The Charity’s beneficiaries are the general public residing in the mid Glens area or those who have an interest in the area. Any private benefit is incidental in terms of enhanced health and wellbeing, enhanced capacity and knowledge, and additional opportunities for collaborative projects within the local voluntary sector.
What your organisation does
Our organisation plans an annual community festival for 9 days providing 100+ activities to suit different ages, creed and ability. It encourages volunteers to help with these events and attracts visitors to our area. It raises funds in the form of donations, sponsorship, grants, sale of programmes & membership fees. We encourage all our local
businesses and clubs to contribute to our festival and discourage outside traders. Other smaller events are organised throughout the year such as Craft Fairs, Candlelight service and Late Night Shopping event, to promote local businesses and encourage the community to shop local and work together.
