1. The advancement of citizenship or community development: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include giving residents a meeting place to get together with others. There are opportunities to learn and reduce social isolation in our rural community and build community spirit and relations. These benefits will be demonstrated through
increased numbers of residents attending the events organised by Jerrettspass Community Association. 2. The advancement of education: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include keeping people informed. With people increasing their knowledge, they will be able to make informed choices with regards to their lives and widen their skills and knowledge in various areas. These benefits will be demonstrated through post evaluation forms and/or a record of certificates received by members. None of the purposes will lead to harm. For both purposes, the charity’s beneficiaries are people living in Jerrettspass and surrounding areas. In relation to the two purposes, the only private benefit flowing from this purpose is the Society’s programme of ongoing training that a trustee may attend in relation to good governance, finance etc. Through this training trustees gain skills and expertise which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.
What your organisation does
The Association runs classes for the local community e.g. art, knitting, crafts. The classes provide learning and a social outlet for people in the rural area of Co Down. It provides room for outside agencies to hold their sessions e.g Jerrettspass WI. While raising funds for our organisation, we also realise that other charities need financial
assistance. To help others, we raise money and donate to the local hospice, for example.
