Brackaghreilly & District Community Association was formed to address the unmet needs in their community and surrounding townlands to develop a Community Centre to cater for the needs of all sections of the local community, to maintain and strengthen community spirit in the area by involving everyone in a range of locally based activities and

functions and to develop peoples' pride in the area by making it a more welcoming place for everyone to live, to work on the social infrastructure of their community by creating facilities for sports and social activities. To advance citizenship and community development with the development of sporting/recreation facilities for use by all members of the community, somewhere to hold social events which would bring the whole community together. To offer facilities which will benefit mental and physical health for users. To offer services on our doorstep which are affordable and accessible for everyone regardless of age, ability, gender or religion. To address the lack of adequate facilities of other groups in our community by making our facilities available. We are here to help reduce the isolation of living in a rural area for the young and the elderly by providing activities on their doorstep.The direct benefits, which flow from our purpose, include: Reducing isolation, poverty and improving the quality of life for people living in a rural area with the delivery of services on their doorstep. Community spirit is maintained and strengthened by involving everyone in locally based activities. People’s pride is developed and increased with the development of improved physical and social infrastructure in their community. These benefits are demonstrated through the number of user groups and individuals booking our facilities, evaluation of activities and feedback and surveys carried out. No harm will result from the purpose of our charity. The charity’s beneficiaries are the people of the Brackaghreilly area. There is no private benefit flowing from our purpose.

What your organisation does

Our organisation exists to provide a range of services and facilities in a rural area, where no others exists. We operate a community centre for use by all other groups in our community. We provide a range of educational (computer/first aid/child protection) recreational and cultural classes (dance/keepfit/flower arranging). We hold weekly social

events for the elderly and youth club for young people. We provide a fax/photocopying/internet service. We act as a signpost for other services. We provide a sporting facility for all members of our community, which consists of a sports hall and gym facilities. We provide a function room for family events such as children s birthday parties, christening, communion and funeral teas and social occasions. We work with other voluntary and statutory agencies to improve the range of services and activities in our community. We provide opportunities for people to get involved in volunteering. We have annual seasonal events to bring the community together plus an annual 5 mile fun run.

Charitable purposes

The objects of the Company shall be to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the area of Brackaghreilly and its environs (the “area of benefit”) without distinction of sex, race or political, religious or other opinions by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to relieve poverty, advance education, preserve and protect health and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and other leisure time occupations with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.
