Public benefits
The direct benefits which flow from our purpose are the education of pre-school children in age appropriate, curriculum based, literacy , numeracy, language and social skills through the use of play and communicated via the Irish language. These benefits can be demonstrated by feedback from parents/ guardians and by regular contact and
inspection from our supervisory bodies; who are the Early Years team of the Northern Health and Social Care Trust, and the Education and Training Inspectorate of the Department of Education NI. The beneficiaries are primarily children and their parents/guardians who live in the area of Ballinascreen, South Derry. A private benefit may arise to our trustees from gaining experience and learning new skills in good governance / finance etc.; which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries. There is no harm.
What your organisation does
Our organisation provides playgroup education to pre-school children (aged 2years 10 months to 4 years) via the communication medium of the Irish language. The children come to our premise from 9.00 - 11.45am every week day morning. We apply the curriculum as set out by the Department of Education. We engage the children in solo and group play,
and also activities which are either structured or more 'free time' focused. Our premises has indoor and outdoor play facilities. On occassion we'll take the children out on field trips to other playgroups, theatre shows etc.
