Public benefits

Purpose 1: Improved relationships between home and school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes funding for additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead

to harm. The benefit is for children at Grey Abbey Primary school. Charity trustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries.  This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2: Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupils in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding. This purpose does not lead to harm.

What your organisation does

Our PTA is made up of a group of elected parents and all teaching staff. All parents are invited to our meetings and to help with events run by or supported by the PTA. Our programme of events includes a Welcome Day for P1 parents, a school disco each term, Christmas Fayre, beetle drive and quiz night. With the funds raised, we provide a Christmas

present and Easter Egg for each child every year. Working with the Principal we fundraise for a major item each year which makes a significant difference to the school. Previous purchases include an interactive whiteboard, an outdoor classroom and play equipment. We have found the PTA to be a great source of funding for the school but also beneficial to welcoming new parents and in the last year we have been working in partnership with the local church and Grey Abbey Community Association and found this to improve support throughout our village.
