The direct benefits that flow from Magheraveely Sunshine Club’s purpose are the organising and provision of a range of social, educational and recreational activities and outings for persons aged 50 and over living within the Magheraveely area of County Fermanagh and surrounding district, providing them with the opportunity to avail of activities

that assist advance their education, protect their health, receive advice and information, social interaction, all of which improve the conditions of life for older people. The Club members also work with their members, other local groups and representative agencies to raise awareness of the needs and experiences of older people living in the Magheraveely area and the benefits flowing from this are receiving support from other organisations to hold activities and delivery of services for older people in the Magheraveely area. The benefits of the Club activities are evidenced by measurement of numbers attending activities and feedback from participants. There is no harm flowing from the purposes of Magheraveely Sunshine Club. The beneficiaries of the Club are the Senior Citizens, those aged 50 and over who live in the Magheraveely area of County Fermanagh and surrounding district. The only private benefit flowing from the Club purposes are that Magheraveely Sunshine Club committee members and their families can participate in all activities and this is incidental and necessary to ensure that all eligible members of the community can potentially avail of these and benefit.

What your organisation does

Magheraveely Sunshine Club have over 30 members drawn from the Magheraveely Village and surrounding rural area, who meet at least once a month for eight months of the year and participate in a range of educational, social and recreational activities and outings. Examples of activities have included Outings to Theatre, Shopping Trips, Museum Tours

and Information Talks. The Club members also regularly visit other Senior Citizens Clubs and take part in collective activities organised by other bodies such as South West Age Partnership.

Charitable purposes

The club is established for the advancement of education and protection of health among older people aged 50 or over and to relieve poverty in Magheraveely and its environs (hereinafter called the ‘area of benefit’) and in particular: (i) provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation or other leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for older people; (ii) raise awareness among the general public of the needs and experiences of older people in the area of benefit.
