Public benefits
Promote the benefit of the members of Benvarden Community Association (without distinction of age, sexual orientation, race, political outlook, religious view, opinion) by associating together the said members and the local authorities, voluntary and other organisations in a common effort to advance education. The direct benefits which flow
include local people availing of opportunities to gain skills and experience by taking part in training, courses and other activities. A number of local residents have attended different courses such as arts and crafts. These training sessions, courses and activities have helped local people to develop an interest in continuing to learn, both in community and by themselves. The purpose does not give rise to any harm. We seek to provide facilities, in the interests of social welfare, for recreation and other leisure time occupations, with the object of improving conditions of life for the said members. The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are a stronger community spirit in the area. We engaged in a project with Linking Generations NI, whereby older people and younger people worked together (which broke down barriers and developed a better understanding between both groups). We seek to promote other charitable purposes as may from time to time arise or be requested. The committee seek to be regularly in touch with the wider community and may be able to respond to local issues such as resolving issues with Council, Housing Executive, Police, etc on behalf of local residents. Benvarden Community Association is non-party in politics and non-sectarian in religion. All activities are open to everyone in the community. There are no personal benefits obtained by trustees and the purpose does not give rise to harm.
