Public benefits

Purpose 1: The direct benefits which flow from this purpose are in preserving the unique and individual character of the area, improving and providing necessary amenities for the benefit of current and future generations resulting in enhanced health and wellbeing. Purpose 2: The direct benefits which flow from the purpose are improved access to

land and open spaces resulting in enhanced health and wellbeing. Purpose 3: The direct benefits which flow from the purpose are increased awareness of local history and culture. Purpose 4: The direct benefits which flow from the purpose of the Association are enhanced civic pride, access to pubic recreational facilities, cultural awareness and enhanced health and wellbeing. Purpose 6: The direct benefits which flow from the purpose of the association are improved working relationships and understanding in local voluntary community groups and statutory agencies, resulting in the realisation of community objectives. These benefits are demonstrated through feedback from participants and beneficiaries and by the level of uptake of our projects and activities. The purposes of our charity will not lead to any harm. The charity’s beneficiaries are people living in the Saintfield and surrounding area. A private benefit to trustees may arise from our programme of ongoing training, support and partnership work with community and voluntary groups. Through this work trustees gain skills and experience which are transferable to other settings. These benefits are incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to our beneficiaries.

What your organisation does

The following is a list of a few previous and current activities that the association is involved in. THIS IS A SHORT SUMMARY AND ALL ACTIVITIES WE ARE INVOLVED IN ARE AVAILABLE TO VIEW ON OUR WEBSITE. WWW.discoversaintfield.com Saintfield Christmas fair. as well as running this long established successful event we also supply the village

Christmas decorations, tree, electric supply performances etc and all volunteers. Harfest a celebration of free music performances for local residents held yearly. Saintfield development association cycle runs. We own and maintain Discoversaintfield.com the very successful website that attracts thousands of worldwide views a week. We produce Saintfield News a hard and online quarterly newsletter hand distributed to 2000 homes in the village. Daily engagement with local council. Redevelopment of the village square. SDA carried out the public consultation and application to local council for the new village community centre. All village floral displays and our entry into ulster in bloom along with the raising of funds are carried out by our volunteers. Funding application, design, purchase and installation of the Saintfield gateway signs. Funding application, design and contract works for the memorial garden.

Charitable purposes

The Charity’s objects (“Objects”) are specifically restricted to the following:- To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Saintfield and surrounding area (the “area of benefit”) without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, political, religious or other opinion by associating the statutory authorities, voluntary, community and private sector organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to: (1) promote village renewal and regeneration, maintain, improve or provide public amenities and otherwise improve the appearance of the area of benefit and the quality of life of its inhabitants; (2) promote sustainable development for the benefit of the public and the local community by: (a) protecting and enhancing the natural and built environment; (b) promoting sustainable means of achieving economic growth and regeneration; (3) promote culture and heritage and raise awareness of local history; (4) sustain and improve the local economy through the promotion of tourism and opportunities for cultural and recreational activities for all age groups; (5) promote such other charitable purposes as may from time to time be determined; (6) promote co-operation and partnership working between community and voluntary groups, public and statutory agencies and bodies and private sector organisations to help achieve these Objects.
