The direct benefits which flow from this purpose include improved education, health and wellbeing outcomes, enhanced accessibility to services and reduction in the issue of rural isolation as well as enhanced community life through sports and recreation facilities being developed and maintained so that they can be used by all in the local community

These benefits are evidenced through feedback from service users on individual projects as well as feedback from local groups,agencies and professionals There is no harm or possibility of harm flowing from our education purpose. There is a risk of injury in participating in physical activity however the benefit to health and wellbeing and the provision of risk assessments mean that the benefits outweigh the risk of harm:The charity's beneficiaries are all the community in Gortin village and surrounding rural areas. The only private benefit flowing from this purpose is that a trustee will gain skills and knowledge through our education programme. Through this trustees gain skills which are transferable to other settings”.

What your organisation does

We provide services and activities for the education and benefit of the community in Gortin village and surrounding rural areas. We are based in Owenkillew Community Centre which houses a sports hall, meeting rooms, kitchen, MUGA pitch, pitch n putt and community gym. We organise a range of programmes covering education, personal development,

wellbeing, healthy eating, IT skills, dance, music and art and craft across all age groups and sections of the community. We also provide WIFI and photocopying services. We have developed a community garden and manage the community food initiative as well as organising annual events including Christmas and Halloween celebration events.

Charitable purposes

To promote the benefit of the inhabitants of Gortin village and surrounding rural area of Owenkillew, without distinction of age,sex,race,political,religious or other opinion, by associating with the statutory authorities, voluntary organisations and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, for recreation or other leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants
