Public benefits

The benefits which will emanate from the purposes include: enhanced community relations, support for assimilation, overcoming racial and religious stereotypes, building trust between communities, informing civil society on diaspora issues and creating a forum for intercultural development within Northern Ireland and further afield. The benefits

will be demonstrated through increased intercultural activity and monitoring of activities and positive assimilative outcomes. The beneficiaries will primarily be the African community residing in Northern Ireland. They will avail of support given by the associates, partners and members of the organisation and participate in all activities (talks, social presentations, cultural and sporting events, etc.). There will be no harm emanating from these purposes. Private benefit will come from individuals from the African community and their respective national groups being able to avail of the services/activities provided by Africa House (NI). The outworking of the organisation applies to all members, associates, partners and community participants.

What your organisation does

The organisation will provide information and facilitate cultural, social economy, educational resources and the facilities to enhance the successful assimilation of the African diaspora into northern Irish society. It will avail of professional and voluntary support to ensure the resources and capacity is enhanced for the African community. It

will carry out research and publish useful information for these purposes. It will hold lectures, meetings, social events, conferences and exhibitions to build a better understanding of African life in Northern Ireland. It will develop audio-visual material, texts, reports and material to promote the objectives. It will fundraise to facilitate these activities and work according to the principles of social enterprise to develop capacity building for the organisation. It will work with civil society organisations, politicians, the civil service and educational community to contribute to the practice of positive migration and effective intercultural assimilation.

Africa House (NI) is established to advance the links between social, educational and cultural projects of the African community in Northern Ireland and the general Northern Irish, Irish and British society by providing or assisting in the provision of facilities/information/support thereto.
