Public benefits

The direct public benefits for the beneficiaries is continuing the Children’s free clubs in the villages, where the Children in the program are able to attend weekly and they have a chance to play, receive educational and financial support through the help of the 10 volunteers that lead the Club on a weekly basis. This is creating a net support for

the families that cannot afford a daycare program. Also the benefits for the Romanian communities are the relief of poverty for the most disadvantaged families by the provision of clothing, food and medical supplies, and also free summer camps and activities for their children. The indirect benefits consist of helping the community school to raise the attendance levels of the children to the school - particularly those that are coming from disadvantaged families thereby ensuring a greater impact for enhanced knowledge and understanding in young people as a result of receiving an education - greatly lending to breaking the poverty cycle. Another benefit is the chance to learn from and understand overcoming cultural barriers and discrimination – shared experiences between people from Romania and Northern Ireland, supporting the ethos of greater tolerance, cultural awareness and development of the sense of equality. The projects in these communities consist of supporting financial struggling families with material help (i.e. food packs) in order to encourage school attendance of the children and providing the children the school materials at the beginning of each year and to provide educational tools through the youth and children’s weekly clubs through sport activities, group support, connection to 40 other similar clubs across the country. The ‘benefit aspect’ of public benefit will consist in a strong connection between organisations from Northern Ireland and Romania (there is an existent partnership with local churches, city halls and schools for the last 5 years) , in order to develop several projects that would benefit both countries culturally, creating a sense of non-discrimination and equality and any detriment or harm that would result from the purpose will not outweigh the benefit. The public that would benefit from the charity’s work is the population from different villages in the south of Romania, that numbers around 3.126 inhabitants, from which the number of children that Helping Hands aims to work with are 300 during the first year. Also, through the Youth Projects we aim to involve around 100 young people from Northern Ireland, and Romania in Youth Exchanges through Erasmus+ projects. Helping Hands Ministries will demonstrate the benefits as it will report its activities at the end of every financial year, stating all the projects carried out and the organisation budget for each project that has been approved by the Board. The risk of harm (school dropouts and families that would abandon the projects) is identified as a minor one and will not impede Helping Hands Ministries in carrying out the purpose of the organisation, as the Board is formed by professional people that can handle any kind of issue (educational, financial, law and administrative). Any personal benefits of Helping Hands Ministries will be no more than incidental and they will be addressed in the Board meetings in order to keep organisational transparency.

What your organisation does

We aim to fulfil the title of the named organisation to relieve and prevent poverty and do so by bringing helping hands humanitarian aid to various recognised areas of need and disadvantage in Romania and support the educational system through school attendance. We are working to relieve poverty in different locations with different cultures,

crossing language barriers, working with all age groups ,genders and different religions. We are working closely with local churches in County Tyrone and across Northern Ireland as well as through youth organisations to raise funds and we work both at home and abroad organising youth trips to bring humanitarian aid to Romania. In doing so we are bringing families and young people from our differing countries with the same faith and beliefs together. We aim to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ by showing his love in a practical manner and supporting outreach in Romania with the necessary funds, materials and facilities. Helping Hands supports youth work in various villages in Romania and will organise youth camps with the vision of cross culture study groups, training provided for delivery of a presentation on various subjects, interview training, teaching on filling out application forms for applying for jobs or financial support forms for family matters, also running courses on health and hygiene matters.
