Public benefits

To enhance the development and education for children under the statutory school age. The public benefit that flows from this purpose is early years education which is invaluable to a child's developmental progress and health and well-being and this service can only be provided in a voluntary setting. There is also a benefit to parents/carers

giving the whole valuable support and advice on education and health and well-being This benefit is evidenced through feedback from families and regular independent evaluation of our services with input from both parents and volunteers. This purpose does not lead to harm. The beneficiaries of this purpose are children under statutory school age. They also include parents/carers of those children. A private benefit that arises from the service we provide is that from time to time we will provide training in areas including Child Protection and Early Years Development and these are transferable skills which could lead to employment opportunities for a volunteer, however without training the organization could not deliver it public benefit to the general public. Volunteer students come into the playgroup to gain experience which will further their future career opportunities in educating other pre-school children.

What your organisation does

Our organisation is a preschool playgroup which is located in Coleraine. We as a committee are responsible for delivering the pre-school educational play sessions to the children under the statutory school age. The preschool playgroup operates five days per week according to the school year providing a stimulating educational experience preparing

participants with the essential foundation needed for the next step in their education. As a group we also provide support and advice if required to parents/carers on play, education and a healthy lifestyle continuing the children's experiences for pre school into the home. The playgroup is managed by a committee of voluntary trustees who are responsible for fundraising and the management of the playgroup which includes employment issues, child protection and purchase of suitable equipment for play and learning.
