Public benefits
The public benefit flowing from the purposes of Glenview Support Group are the better relationships are formed between the staff of the school, the parents of the children and the local community. The management of the school and the pupils benefit from the support of the group both financially and in kind. This enables the school to pay for
extra activities for the children and to develop facilities particularly for those children with special educational needs which they would not be able to provide from statutory funding. The children benefit from being able to access extra activities and better facilities so that their education is more complete. The community benefits by being part of the life of the school and from the information events laid on by the support group. These benefits are measured by the number of extra activities funded by the support group and by the numbers of children availing of them. They are also measured by ongoing meetings between management and staff and members of the support committee which inform the needs that are apparent within the school. The benefits are also measured by the reaction of the community when the group has a fundraising drive within it. There is no private benefit flowing from any of these purposes and no harm from the activities undertaken by Glenview Support Group.
What your organisation does
The group exist to support the management and staff of Glenview School, to provide extra activities and learning opportunities for both the staff and the children of the school which would not be paid for through statutory provision. The group organises a range of community fundraising events such as discos, craft sales, marathon runs, clothes
collection etc. We also make applications to a range of other funding opportunities such as money from the local council, the Big Lottery and donations from parents. The group has organised and continues to plan information events such as public meetings where the local community is kept advised about what is happening within the school. The group acts as a link between the staff, pupils, parents and the community.
